Overview of Position

The Senior Director, Store Performance & Enterprise Improvement is responsible for driving measurable performance lift across the retail portfolio by identifying, prioritizing, and accelerating improvement opportunities at the individual store level. This leader develops and leverages a data-informed diagnostic framework to assess financial, operational, merchandising, and talent drivers of performance, partnering directly with SVP Stores, District Directors, General Managers and Chief Commercial Officer to identify root causes and implement targeted action plans. Through cross-functional collaboration with Store Operations, Visual, Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR, the role ensures disciplined execution, accountability, and sustained results. By combining analytics with hands-on field engagement, the Senior Director translates insight into action, elevating store productivity, customer experience, and profitability while surfacing enterprise-level themes that inform broader strategic decision-making. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

Position Reports To

SVP Stores

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Confirm and execute a data-driven prioritization model to identify and rank stores based on performance gap, financial opportunity, and operational risk.
  • Design and continuously refine an executive-level store performance dashboard integrating sales, labor productivity, conversion, inventory health, shrink, customer metrics, and talent indicators to surface actionable insights.
  • Develop and standardize a Store Performance Diagnostic Framework outlining the operational, merchandising, staffing, scheduling, inventory management, visual execution, and training levers that drive measurable financial outcomes.
  • Conduct structured performance assessments with General Managers to identify root causes, capability gaps, and operational barriers impacting store results.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Store Operations, Visual, Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR to align corrective actions and ensure coordinated execution of improvement plans.
  • Lead the development of store-specific performance improvement plans with defined milestones, accountability owners, and measurable impact targets.
  • Monitor execution through structured follow-up cadence, including daily outreach, validating progress against defined KPIs and recalibrating action plans as needed.
  • Identify systemic themes and recurring performance drivers across markets and elevate enterprise-level recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Champion adoption of best practices and scalable playbooks to improve scheduling effectiveness, inventory productivity, FT/PT labor mix optimization, and customer conversion.
  • Provide executive visibility through regular reporting on performance lift, financial impact, and risk mitigation outcomes across prioritized stores.
  • Consistently arrives promptly to work the assigned schedule
  • Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information
  • Travels to priority stores, in partnership with the SVP of Stores, to assess performance gaps, validate execution standards, and implement structured improvement plans.
  • Performs other requested tasks and duties
Experience and Skills Required
  • 10+ years of progressive retail leadership experience, including multi-unit or enterprise-level performance responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success improving underperforming stores or markets, with measurable financial impact (comp growth, labor productivity, inventory turns, shrink reduction, margin improvement).
  • Experience building and leveraging data dashboards and KPI frameworks to drive decision-making.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional performance initiatives across Operations, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR.
  • Experience coaching and influencing General Managers or senior field leaders.
  • Strong financial acumen with hands-on experience managing or influencing P&L performance.
  • Experience scaling best practices across a portfolio of stores or regions.
  • Exposure to change management or enterprise transformation initiatives preferred.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
  • Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs
  • Knowledge of industry business and passion for following trends in the industry
