Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Physically moves trailers from yard to dock doors for Inbound and Outbound operations with performance and safety expectations utilizing and driving yard tractor
• Accounts for all trailers in the yard utilizing Dock/Yard Management tool, ensuring accuracy of trailer locations, and taking action with carriers, transportation team and DC Ops as required
• Dispatches outbound loads, checks in carriers, directs carrier trailer drop off and manages all BOLs and carrier shipment documents
• Updates and manages 'After Hours' carrier pickup log for outbound store trucks and communicates, problem solves and escalates any issues
• Performs multiple yard audits per day to ensure all after hours pickups are accurately staged and picked up as expected along with yard accuracy
• Effectively works with others with expectations to perform secondary tasks as needed to support DC Operations (i.e. dock sorting, receiving, putaway, etc...)Maintains yard safety by monitoring the activities and behaviors of Carriers as they operate within the perimeter of yard
• Maintains equipment safety by completing required maintenance tasks and equipment safety audits
• Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment
• Contributes to a clean and safe Distribution Center
• Consistently arrives promptly to work the assigned schedule
• Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information
• Performs other requested tasks and duties
Qualifications
Experience and Skills Required
• Must meet all DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including passing the MVR, criminal background and the DOT physical
• Complies with all federal, state, and local regulations for the secure and safe operation of a motor vehicle
• Possess skill to maneuver and safely position 20' to 53' trailers in tight parking spaces and dock door positions, including blind side backing
• Ability to pass background checks and investigations due to foreign, federal, state and local regulations; based on position responsibility and sensitivity, periodic check and reinvestigations may be performed
• Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization
• Ability to quickly separate the mission-critical tasks from the lower priority tasks; focuses on the most value-added projects of the day or week
• Flexible, with a positive attitude and passion for knowledge
• Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once
• Possesses focused attention to detail and solid organizational and prioritization skills while working quickly and accurately under pressure
• Professional manner and strong communication skills internally and with outside vendor partners
• Makes strategic and effective decisions in the best interest of our customers and our company, taking care to objectively process information
