Overview
The Demand Planner position is responsible for all forecasting and demand planning activities associated with customers, stores, and products. The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models for assigned product lines, incorporating business intelligence, and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, and other sources. The Demand Planner is the integration point into the sales and commercial organization. Basic forecast modeling is the responsibility of this position. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assesses and adjusts as needed to the forecasts developed in Atlas/John Galt and incorporates feedback and insights from the Commercial Lead to either confirm sales outlook based on trend and seasonality or makes adjustments to the forecast based on SKU availability or other factors that may impact rate of sale
  • Leads the analysis of Supplier/SKU ordering in Atlas/John Galt and is accountable for all of the inputs to the weekly replenishment logic, including;
    • Assessments and adjustments to the weekly SKU sales forecast (total and by channel)
    • Assessments and adjustments to the DC forecast weeks and the DC stock multiplier factor
    • Assessments and approvals for Location Planner or Field Operations leadership recommended changes to PTMs by store or Event Level settings
  • Leads and is accountable for pricing by SKU in collaboration with Commercial General Manger, Commercial Leads and Pricing Lead
    • Ensures ticket price for new SKUs is set consistent with overall margin objectives
    • Forecasts future unit sales with consideration of planned promotions and exit strategies
    • Develops recommended price for first Clearance-related price change
  • Maintains strong relationships and works closely with Commercial lead to collaborate on Supplier / SKU sales plans and strategies, and incorporates into the demand and operational forecast.
  • Facilitates a collaborative planning process with Commercial lead, marketing, stores, and finance to achieve a consensus operational demand forecast.
  • Works with Commercial lead to develop inventory strategies on existing items, plans for new product, and related exit strategies on SKUs new product will replace (as applicable) to ensure that Trade / A SKUs maintain their proper share of overall inventory levels in the context of effective inventory management and customer service
  • Prepares and maintains relevant reports pertaining to demand planning process
Experience Education, Certifications and Affiliations:
  • College degree, preferred
  • 5 + years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, supply chain, or related field
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting, and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using root cause analysis to improve forecast accuracy and demand planning processes.
  • Ability to independently identify and resolve problems or take advantage of opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all teams, areas, and levels of business affecting the forecasting process.
  • Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs
  • Knowledge of industry business and passion for following trends in the industry
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization
  • Ability to quickly separate the mission-critical tasks from the lower priority tasks; focuses on the most value-added projects of the day or week
  • Flexible, with a positive attitude and passion for knowledge
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once
  • Possesses focused attention to detail while working quickly and accurately under pressure
